Reimagining the Way People Connect with Art

We are on a journey to reimagine the way people connect with art. We uncover the hidden stories, overlooked voices, and fascinating details that traditional art history often leaves out, making it more inclusive, more accessible, and more enjoyable.

So if you are an art enthusiast, a life-long learner or simply curious we invite you to join our community. We believe that learning history through art is a fascinating and engaging way to connect with the past and with each other.

Unveiling Art History was founded by Trisha McCauley, an experienced artist, educator, and photographer with over 20 years of work in community education.

From 2007 to 2018, Trisha served as Director of Rosetta Arts, leading innovative cultural programmes across East London. Between 2015 and 2023, she also curated exhibitions at The Humble Gallery,  a vibrant space supporting local artists and communities through accessible exhibitions and creative programming.

Earlier in her career, Trisha spent six years with the Stolen Art and Antiques Unit at New Scotland Yard, working alongside detectives and Interpol to recover high-value artworks, including The Scream (1843) by Munch and Rest on the Flight into Egypt (1512) by Titian, among other rare artefacts.

Through Unveiling Art History, she brings together her knowledge of art, investigative curiosity, love of storytelling, and sense of humour to open up the world of art history for diverse audiences.

Over the years, Trisha has been commissioned to lead a range of projects for various organisations, including the London Mayor's Office, the London Borough of Waltham Forest, London Borough of Newham,  Bridging Histories, Thames Festival Trust, Near Neighbours - Windrush Events, and The World Reimagined, a national art education initiative.

Our sessions are led by a small, team of art historians and artists. This includes both qualified professionals and final-year undergraduate students, alongside experienced, practising artists. All facilitators are DBS-checked and carefully selected to create a safe, inclusive, and enriching learning environment for every participant.
